Use Linear issues as first-class tasks inside Rize

Linear is a strong fit for product, engineering, and operations teams that want automatic tracking tied back to the issue workflow they already trust. Once connected, Rize can surface synced issues in suggestions and send tracked time back.

Connecting Linear​

Navigate to Settings > Integrations and click the "Connect Linear" button. You will be redirected to Linear to authorize the integration.

The Linear integration syncs your assigned issues as tasks in Rize, making it easy to track time against specific issues.

Syncing Linear Issues​

Once connected, your Linear issues will appear in Tasks > All Tasks. Synced issues are marked with a Linear icon.

  • Issues assigned to you are automatically synced
  • Changes made in Linear (title, status) sync back to Rize
  • You cannot edit Linear issue names directly in Rize

Tracking Time Against Linear Issues​

Track time against synced Linear issues just like any other Rize task:

  1. When adding a task to a time entry, Linear issues appear in the selection dropdown
  2. AI suggestions will automatically match your activity to relevant Linear issues
  3. Time tracked in Rize syncs back to your Linear workspace

Add keywords to your Linear-synced tasks in Rize to improve AI suggestion accuracy. The more context you provide, the better the automatic matching becomes.

Rize can match activity to the issues your team is actually assigned to instead of relying only on a manual task list.

When work is tagged against Linear issues consistently, downstream project and team reporting becomes much more useful.

Creating a Team from Linear​

You can create a Rize team directly from your Linear workspace:

  1. Click "+Add Team" under the Teams navigation
  2. Select the "Create via Linear" option
  3. Authorize the connection and select your Linear workspace
  4. Choose which team members to import
  5. Select Linear projects to sync as Rize projects

After setting up a team from Linear:

  • Linear projects sync as Rize projects
  • Team tasks are shared across team members
  • Time entries logged against Linear issues sync back automatically
